Chris argues with retired La Mesa Police Captain Dan Willis about why people perceive the police in America to be a bunch of “assholes.”
Retired Police Captain Dan Willis is a former homicide investigator and SWAT commander. He’s witnessed unspeakable atrocities working in law enforcement, and says there’s no program in place to help police officers deal with all the horrific things they see: rape, murder, pedophile infant child molesters, etc. Dan Willis has created an emotional survival and wellness training course that helps law enforcement and first responders deal with the terrors of their jobs in a healthy way.
We talk with Dan about suicide in law enforcement, cops losing the ability to feel, the media hype over white cops vs black people, the mysterious “Vehicle Code Book” that tells officers everything they’re allowed to pull you over for (available at your local DMV), and Dan’s award-winning book Bulletproof Spirit: The First Responder’s Essential Resource for Protecting and Healing Mind and Heart.
