Introducing Dora Talks!

[Meet Dora: she’s going to be doing a new series on our blog called “Dora Talks the Chris Brake Show” where she will be doing sort of a Companion Piece to different Chris Brake Show episodes. Dora is really cool, and we’re really looking forward to her posts! So without further ado, we present to you… Dora Talks the Chris Brake Show.]

Introducing Dora Talks!

When the Chris Brake Show asked me to guest blog for their site, my first nervous thought was, “You want me to what now?!” But here I am trying my best to figure out what exactly to blog about.*

I first found out about the Chris Brake Show here on WordPress. They liked one of my posts, I liked one of their posts, then before you know it I was listening to two grown men and a lady talk about life in Indianapolis who would occasionally emit sounds of bodily functions on air (not the lady).

I immediately subscribed.

Dora Talks The Chris Brake Show

I thought for my first post I would introduce myself. Exactly how our forefathers used to do it back in the day when people actually met each other, face to face.

But I’m slightly handicapped when it comes to making (hopefully good) first impressions.

So to make things easy for all of us (but mostly for me, because I’m writing this on a work night) I’ll just give you a list of things/make-believe** details about me in a listicle style (or what others call, “a bad form of journalism”).

Who is Dora?

Alright, let’s do this.

  • I put words together to form sentences that mutate to paragraphs then disintegrates to a disaster in this blog.

  • I have two eyes, one nose, and medium length black-brown hair that has been the subject of various experiments for at least 10 years of my life.

  • It took me 4 tries to spell the word length – I’m so tired, you guys and thankful for spell check.

  • I was a pescetarian once for exactly 30 days.

  • Chris Brake’s beard is my spirit animal! 🙂

  • I just created a Twitter account. I have 16 followers so far and if you don’t follow me on Twitter right now, you’re probably going to be…just fine.

  • I was voted “Least likely to use her degree” in college.

  • I have never step foot in America but I can name all 50 states. That should earn me a free pass right?

  • Tina Fey. Tina Fey. Tina Fey.

  • Spitfire Sarah said “hi” to me in this episode and it is, in my opinion, the best episode ever.

  • For the first 4 years of my life, I thought I was a boy and would pee standing up.

  • My talents include reading while in bed, procrastination, closing my eyes for hours and self-deprecation.

  • I am bilingual and a half. And a half because I can understand one other language but can’t speak it.

  • I am (slightly) allergic to feelings and does not know how to give a (proper) hug.

  • Andrew W.K. popped my Chris Brake Show cherry (immediately regrets typing those words) with this episode.

  • I have seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy more than 10 times. Yes, this fact is included in my resume.

  • I’m in love with comedy but The Walking Dead is my most loved show right now. Why? Zombies, of course.

  • I find that one way of dealing with my anxiety is by listening to 80’s music, songs I don’t understand but know all the lyrics to, Dani Filth, and lots and lots of Louis C.K.

  • I drink tea because my body can’t handle coffee anymore.

  • My name is Dora Argh (like the letter “R”. John Rapp is still trying to figure out how to pronounce my last name) and I will be invading your privacy on a weekly (or as time permits) basis by delivering some mediocre “comedic” commentary on some – if not all – Chris Brake Show episodes***

  • “Please don’t hate me,” is the first sentence I say when I meet someone.

Till next time,

Hour/s it took me to write this post: 1

Cups of tea: 1 (and 700ml of water)

Number of cockroaches exterminated: 1 (picked it up with my bare hand and flushed it down the toilet, like a bad-ass)

*Your inputs are most welcome.

**You decide.
